Ricoh Aficio 2045e reset factory - how?

Would anyone happen to know how to reset a Ricoh Aficio 2045e back to factory default - to a mode where I just unpacked it from the box and will set it all up?

I tried: Press . (point) and # Both simultaneously more than 10 seconds. This didn't do anything.
I tried: press "clear mode", "107".then hold down "clear/stop" key. Enter 5990 press enter. Touch on screen "execute". After print out go back to clear memory. Enter 5801-1. Follow the list to reset each item. That didn't work either.

So, not sure what else to press or do to get it back to factory default. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

You are clearly not a Ricoh engineer, otherwise you would know this is not a good idea.
What settings do you want to reset anyway? If you make a list or just memorise them you can manually reset a machine easily. Also, if you have the birth certificate you can enter those values as well.

All new Ricoh come with a paper with some smc printed by the factory. Most of the things u can change in sp mode have a (0) default and ur value above.

It states specifically in the manual that you do not execute sp5801 unless you are replacing, or have a damaged nvram. The settings a machine has from the factory are different as no 2 machines are exactly the same. If you can find the birth certificate for the machine, you can manually input the data. If not, you're kinda screwed. Does the machine actually work? SC codes? What were you trying to get rid of that prompted you to clear the damn nvram?

More commonly known as the "Birth Certificate".

              Another one executing SP5-801-001....

Executing this item should only be done when replacing the NVRAM! SP5-801-001 will not solve paper jams, service calls, etc. and will not reset the total counter. Just don't do it, it will only cause trouble.

Re: Ricoh Aficio 2045e reset factory - how?

Maybe I was a bit hasty in my first posting in wanting to reset it to factory default.

and yes, I'm not a copier tech. I don't know anything about the internal workings of these machines. I'm more on the computer/network side, not the details of the crazy printers.
My client bought it used from some other company last year and it's been sitting in the corner mostly being used for copies only (since they have another printer to waste ink on for major prints).

Now they want to use it for scanning. So I'm looking to set that up, and perhaps I should create a whole new thread for that, but I'll ask here since I"m here now...

I have the address book setup with two test users. I have a shared folder on the server with everyone full permissions so anyone on the network can get to this folder.
I have SMB enabled on the printer in the protocols section. The printer is on the network and works fine. People can print to it w/no problem.

In the address book for the test user, the settings are:
                Protocol: SMB
                Port #: <blank>
                Server name: <blank>
Path: (I have tried both of these): \\192.168.1.250\scan\test1 and \\server\scan\test1
                Username: administrator (then my pwd)
(I set this up through the webimage)

Scanning doesn't work. I see on the LCD screen the error message "sending the data failed"

When I'm at the LCD screen setting up a new user in the address book and try to browse the network to setup the scan to folder, I get the error "cannot find specified path"

I thought hey..I'll reset it to factory default and redo all the network from the ground up. That might fix it. Probably wouldn't..but what the hell. Anyhow...that's my actual problem....scanning doesn't work.

It's almost like the printer only wants to one-way communication on the network, by only letting people print. But it won't send data back to the network to let someone scan to a folder.

What OS are you scanning to? If Windows 7 (possibly Vista as well) or later you can try my other suggestions here: http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/sh...tml#post324876

... and as always check the firmware is up-to-date.

You could reset the NCS settings to clear all prior network settings, but I won't give you the how to because you are a network guy not a tech. If you botch that it will cause you and the tech you call a very bad day, same for factory reset. You can try to enter the network path directly via \\hostname\scan folder or \\ip\scanfolder. Then do a connection test in the address book. Remember the credentials for permission will cause this to fail if not entered correctly.

An extra note, if you are using a domain make sure the username is domain name qualified, i.e. "domain\username".

Port # should be 21, but I saw in another of your posts that your trying to get it to work on Server 2008. There's little to no chance it will work on that system without a firmware update at minimum, which is NOT simple or readily available to download
I'd suggest scan to FTP, or scan to email

The cheap and easy would be FTP via Filezilla.

I actually think I'll give this a shot. Filezilla is easy enough to setup, and I'm certain the FTP would work without any issues. As for SMB to a Windows 2008 server - it just doesn't want to work. And someone in a previous comment said I'd need to upgrade the firmware in the printer problem. Forget that. Too much hassle, when I can get FTP up and running in about 10 minutes.
