    Well, now FTPisn't working.

I have filezilla setup all properly. User and folder is in filezilla.

    here is what filezilla logs:

The printer on the other hand, outputs: Sending the data has failed.

Of course, my PDF file never shows up in the folder on the server either.

The user in the address book, for the FTP settings, I just have the port # set, the server (called: server), no file path, and the username/password. if I put a path, it keeps reverting to SMB. When i remove the path, I can save the address book entry with FTP.

    Needless to say...i'm still stuck....

Re: Ricoh Aficio 2045e reset factory - how?

So, I was working on this FTP issue yesterday. Two hours in, I still couldn't get it to work. My previous reply. Same issue. FTP connects then disconnects. Something is being very stubborn. I could connect via FTP to the server right from my laptop ...just client to server FTP. That works fine. I connect and can upload files. Why the printer can't connect when I clearly seeing making a connection. I wish I knew.

      Anyone have any suggestions?

If you're not specifying a folder on the server, just use / as the path. Also remember that FTP uses the web and Unix / instead of the Windows \ for directory levels. Using \ will always revert the setting to SMB.

Also, this machine will not work at all with SMB to Server 2008. The Samba version on the network card is too old and doesn't support a high enough encryption level.

I gave up trying to use SMB a while ago. It won't work. Someone suggested I probably need a firmware update - but I'm not going down that road. So now, I'm trying to get it work with FTP. I'll give the FTP a try using the "/" instead of the windows "\".

(Windows can use both / and \ for pathnames).

When setting up users in filezilla, it's common to forget to put the checkmark on the "write" permissions of the folder. Check it out.
