MPC2500 LINES

Hi, All. I have a Savin c2525(b230) with lines at the bottom of everything, prints,copies, and internal data prints. I initially thought it was a charge roller line on black pcu, but not so. The line even occurs on ALL colors of the internal test page prints. All PM parts are well within there expected lifespan. I did replace the K pcu, itb cleaning unit, k pcu and fuser, no joy. ITB belt is in excellent condition. I'm leaning towards a problem with the LD unit. Has anyone ran into this problem before?

The line are light, and you can only see them a little on the bottom of the red area, although they actually are occurring across the entire page every inch or so, and they are about 2 inches high. I scanned them at hi res, and they still didn't show up well.

I see the lines on your sample. I don't think its a LD problem, doubt it very much. It looks like a defect on one of the charge rollers, especially if its every inch or so, OR possibly on one of the developer mag rollers. Its not an issue if the units are still within their lifespan, Things can still go, and they do on these, bad well before the lifespan. Depends on how the customer's been using the machine. Have a close look at the charge rollers and magnetic rollers.

Did you look @ the transfer cleaning area?

Nooo.... there would be streaks, or repeated print, not those lines.

Try doing sky shots in single colour mode. You may have to enable it from SP Mode to do it, but it should help you narrow down which PCU to look at.

That's why I used SP 2109-005 for test patterns. By selecting cyan, yellow or magenta individually I should be able to pinpoint which pcu is at fault. I have used this many times in the past to isolate the offending pcu/dev unit. The lines are on ALL individual colors. If it was a particular pcu/dev unit problem it should only appear on the color that has the fault, not all of them. Am I wrong in this logic?

Technically yes, but If my memory serves me right, I had a blip on the black drum that would also appear on the individual colours. I think to be sure, if you have another used or new charge roller, substitute it in each unit and see if the fault goes away. the charge rollers unclip out easy enough without having to dismantle the pcu. Should be able to tell in a few minutes if a charge roller is at fault. Thats what I would do anyway.

Turned out to be the K development unit, which is one thing I did not have till this morning. Took way too long on this repair. It happens occasionally.

so it was a mark/scratch on the black mag roller ?

After a thorough cleaning of the dev unit, the only thing I found was the front side mag roller seal was folded over. The unit is now in another machine and functioning normally.
