[Dead] Fiery E-5000 on Ricoh MP C4500 --Lockup--

    Any help would be appreciated,

I have a Ricoh MP C4500 with a E-5000 fiery. It has a history of locking up (00 on Fiery LED display) and having to be rebooted. Wednesday 5/22/13 I reinstalled the 1.01 System SW and the patches in order per the attached Ricoh Doc.

Now it runs for around 10-15 minutes and locks up with a FF on the display.

I noted the installation procedure had not been followed as the second DIMM on the MFP board was still in place and the Service Mode Switch For the machines internal NIC (SP 5-985-001) was still set to 1 (Enabled). When I set it per the install instructions to 0 I get a SC650-11 code.

If I try to remove the Fiery I cannot print to the internal controller and they cannot run it with the Fiery for more than 15 Minutes.

Ricoh says replace the Fiery MPCB, but I would rather pull the fiery and run it from the internal nic. However as mentioned above, we have not been successful in removing it and resetting back to the built in controller.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

You can't have the Fiery and the internal print scan option installed on the same machine. The E-5000 is a POS anyway just like the rest of the embeded by a tail "E" Fiery's that are Linux based. Do your customer and yourself a favor, use the internal print scan option.

I think you maybe short a patch or 2. last time I loaded 1 i think there were 21 patches. And with 21 or so patches why doesn't Fiery and ricoh release a new version of the OS that includes all the patches?????????????

I could not agree more. The issue is we cannot get the machine to print once the Fiery has been removed. I have reset the second DIMM (Removed at Fiery Install) and the interface PCB. But even though we can ping the internal NIC, we cannot get it to print or log into the internal web page.

          Any suggestions?

            Tonerbomb,

I did not see instructions to remove an internal Print / Scan option (I am not familiar with this series), could this option have been either removed, or never installed? This might explain why I cannot get it to print after pulling the E-5000.

If so, ho would i re-install it? Any ideas there?

Do you have the print scan SD card installed?? this is key to the internal print option.

I believe the fiery is an "either/or" type of situation. When it's installed, the usual internal Print/scan kit is not. So I would suspect that there is (at minimum) no Print/scan SD card installed on the copier itself to allow for on board functionality.
                EDIT...tonerbomb beat me to it!..

                  Thanks guys!

We will look into getting an SD card for this and loose the Fiery!

                  Thanks for the help!

Here's the kit. You may need the Dimm card as well (??)

You also need to install additional memory to get the internal print controller to work. If the machine was originally ordered with the Fiery, it will not be there.

I've been through this exact exercise - no fun.
