[Dead] MP C2050 panel won't come on, no start button led, fuser and scanner carriage come on

I have an MP C2050 where the op panel appears dead (though I get some reaction from the soft power button) the scanner carriage does it's initialization check and the fuser is coming on, but the machine is unusable... The LCDC is newer than the version listed for the firmware/fuse issue. Fuses on the PSU all check out fine, but the design of this machine makes it impossible to check output from all of the connectors on the PSU and I don't have a spare to try swapping that out.

    Any suggestions?

Unable to access the web page, and I've tried the shining a light on the display, but I can't see anything. I'm checking the resistor discussed in MPC 3300 Dead Display panel - Ricoh, Savin, Gestetner - www.oasq.com

Oasq is a forum crawler website, stealing content from others; not something I would trust. The original link is: http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ri...lay-panel.html

When you say newer, you mean C2051? What was wrong with the original panel.

Sorry, wasn't very clear on that one, what I meant was that the LCDC on the machine is newer than Jan 2010's production date, which is referenced in the bulletin (33) for the LCDC firmware/fuse issue. It is the correct board for this machine.

Think I had this issue one time before.

First, disconnect the HDD from the main controller.

Try powering up the machine with the front door open and see if it will come up.

If not, try removing the memory on the main controller. The machine may come up and then give you a different error, but at least it may come up. If you have two memory modules, you can do them 1 at a time to see if you just have 1 bad one or not.

Essentially, the controller may be stalling early in the power up process and the machine is simply not getting very far in start up process.

The machine I had I wound up having to replace the HDD, main controller and the memory on the controller (not sure if it took a power hit or not).

I would be interested in seeing what you find out on it.

*edit* I have never had any SC 202 issues with these series of machines. Those are usually related to the "big" color. The "little" color (of which this one is a member of) seem to have a larger chance of eating hard drives and having other HDD related issues.
