[Jamming] 1107ex Duplex Folding and Jams (Aaaaarrgh!)

Does anyone have any experience on this?, we have a 2 year old 1107ex (Done 5m) that we've looked after from new. Whenever the customer is doing A3 duplex runs, (about 80% of there work) they are getting the rear corner folded over (dog ear on lead edge) and paper skewed on the second side.

Its fine single sided and only does it maybe 1 in a 100 on duplex but it's getting to be more and more often and neither myself or the other engineer that looks after it can pin-point the cause.

We've have the duplex out and stripped down on several occasions but everything seems clean and in good order with no wear to guides / mylars etc.

    Any help much appreciated!!

i would check the gate celenoid it might get hot , or its week and intermittently gets hung.
you can try cleaning it with alcohol, it dries on its own, dont use anything else.

Check the underside of the clear plastic guides in the duplex unit. Paper will wear through the ribs in the plastic and cause something like this to occur.....

HelloThere is a tech bulletin about this problem, you have to change a paper guide roller in the fuser unit, does it happens only with A3 or even with A4??

Check for wear on critical guide plates and mylars, especially at registration roller and such. We had a small machine that had a mylar just before the registration roller that was so worn that it if you looked down it, it had a wave to it. But what would happen, the paper when hitting the registration would not hit the registration roller evenly and would buckle and fold to a point in the middle of the paper where it would have a tick mark in it like it was catching pick off pawls in the fuser. Strange and not immediately obvious! Needless to say, we sold the people who had that machine a higher volume machine and the little machine that was causing this problem got sent back to the leasing company!

          End of story!

I have had this happen on a couple of the production machine I work on. Corner of the paper will actually cut a slot into one of the ribs. Use a small file or sand paper to smooth the snag will work until you can get a replacement guide.
