    [CQ] MPC 3000

    Hi all
I have a problem with this m/c in duplex mode using df ,duplex to duplex is fine,in platen mode is fine but when copying single sided to duplex the second side has a thin dark line 8mm down and parallel to the lead edge and the registration is off by that amount. Thanks in advance.

Check Copy Settings and set the margin for single->duplex to 0 mm (default is 5 mm).

If the 2nd side registration doesn't cure the problem, I would look at the 2nd side magnification in paper feed direction. The tail end of the original can create a shadow that appears as a very fine line at the tail end of prints (if the magnification is 'reducing') Please remember that a LOWER input number ENLARGES the image in feed direction and a HIGHER setting REDUCES it! This is because the enlargement/reduction in the doc feed is set by the motor speed. (feed direction only). This can be confusing.

In user tools, copy/document server settings/edit that's where you'll find the adjustment Eric has mentioned, I alter this to 0mm on every install I do, and check it on every subsequent call

I also alter this value on every new install. I really don't know why this setting is set to 5 mm. I'm sure the designers in Japan have a reason for this, but I just don't get it...

I think it's for binding purposes, but surely selecting the feature if you want to bind your document is better than having it as default

lol - and they stick with this stupid preset for > 1 decade

We also set this to zero during installation to avoid customer calls.
