    MP C305SPF MESSAGE : Cartridges are not set correctly (Black only)

    New machine,new customer and after 2.5k prints he called me for a premature "black toner cart. empty".
    He decided to replace it with a new one, but there was still enough toner in the cartridge.
    So, he called me again for a " ...not set correctly" message.
    What i saw with a torch was a bent contact inside so i replaced the IDS board. Message still there!!!
    A new bottle, nothing at all!!!
    I observed for many hours in slow motion how cartridge locks inside, i removed laser unit from above , PCUs,
    vacuum around and cartridge locks perfectly...,it seems so!
    I can see that it doesn't go all the way inwards according to the other color cartridges.(2mm difference)
    What happened there and what am i missing??

    Could be the bent contact took out the RFID board and the BICU?
    It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          I had a new install with a bent contact at the rear, bit of a strip down to replace the board, or you could simply reform the bent contact you do have to remove the board to do this however.

            Well, i decided to dismantle toner hopper unit to get as close i could .
            By removing the upper guide the cartridge could go inwards till the end using only the upper guide!!!
            There is a guide down to the lower frame which hit the drawer in the middle to open for toner dispensing.
            Very very tricky thing, the upper guide maybe suffered a good knock, because i put it again over the lower frame and now it works..
            All these are written for future reference, how the cartridge works, ...if it doesn't!!

              hi polo great that you fixed the problem I had this with the yellow and replaced the sen and the toner unit and toner coil for yellow please could you reword your fix or post a pic as I think this may be a common problem Im not sure if you are talking about the bottle shutter many thanks I may just being dumb?

                Certainly i would like to explain more than i wrote before.
                First thing is to check that cartridges are at the same level as you see them from users view.
                If not, it means that you have a problem, so you need service manual to begin from page 211 "Toner Transort Section" removal procedure.
                Look at the pictures first to understand what you are going to remove.
                Put it on a flat surface and observe it...how it locks the cartridge, do the chips press the IDS switces the same?
                How it opens and how it closes the cartridge shutter. For ex.: if you pull out the cartridge and toner is spilling around, the shutter is open and the mechanism does not work!

                  I had a machine in my workshop recently that did this but on ALL the toners! It was used as a training machine, and it turned out that someone tried to remove the ITB without removing the PCDUs first. This caused all the PCDUs to be pulled towards the right door side, with the result that the silver contacts on all the PCDUs were bent open, causing the set PCDU correctly message for all units.

                  Only discovered the cause AFTER replacing boards and checking the whole loom around the PCDUs!

                  Once all the contact were bent back into shape, all was well again!
                  Press the GREEN button!!

                    Had 2 of these machines with "toner not set"-message out of box. 2times there was the board, which causes the problem. Looking at the photo you can see a bent contact.

                      To be continued....
                      Maybe this is for a new thread but i already mentioned that all this trouble started with a faulty 'replace toner cartridge' message!!! (There was still enough toner in the cartridge.)
                      After that, toner denity is pretty low in ALL (!) colors and i cannot recover machine!!!!
                      Initialization, New PCDU program from SP's,forced toner, entrance of Non Default Data didn't give me a sense that machine will be back on the pits. A software crash maybe, drove it there..
                      Any help will be much appreciated..

                        My problems were caused by the recepticles that contact the pdcu bias bushes. There are two silver contact on the left and right side of each area where the bush fits into, and a small cir ular silver contact in the middle. The ones on the sides were bent open. Are the ones in your photo of the toner bottle chip contacts?

                          I have this same issue, "Black Toner IS Not Set" I can see one pin is bent on this board, I have bent it back but want to replace the board to be sure.
                          Could someone please supply the part number? I cant seem to find it in the parts manual!?
