    Have you formatted the drives with your laptop yet? If not, connect them one at a time to your computer with an external hard drive enclosure and format them NTFS, then try them in the copier.

      This could be completely unrelated but I have a feeling it could be.

      We had a similar issue on an MP5500 where it would freeze and show memory failure whenever we tried to do a copy of anything above 1 quantity.

      We replace the hard drive, formatted both on computer and in SP mode and the fault cleared for a half hour or so.

      but it kept coming back... we eventually got a ricoh tech out who knows about the fault and says it's on an internal memo (thanks ricoh)

      ended up replacing Dimm cards and refitting the hdd, turned out to be a faulty BICU board after all that.

      as I said, could be completely different. Now that I've written it down it sure doesn't sound the same.

      who knows? I don't!
