    3245c Magenta background

    Hi Everyone,

I have no training on the color machines, so any help will be appreciated. The machine in question has magenta backgound on the copies when doing full color. Nothing on single color or b&w that I can see. I have changed the magenta drum and developer units. The problem went away for 2 weeks and just returned. I have done auto color calibration with no difference. Should I try to detone just magenta? Is there an adjustment for developer bias? Please let me know. TIA Toto

It may be over toning but I wouldn't make any adjustment until I had more information. It s hard to turn back the clock once you've made the adjustment.
Take a look at each KYMC display for SP3007 (Vcnt) 3121 (Gamma) and 3911 (process control) What you're mostly looking for is a difference in the values. It may give you a clue.
Also, the customer may have set something in user settings.
They can be returned to default by going into User tools Then holding down the # key and pressing Copy Settings.

These machines are prone to haveing dev clutch problems mainly magenta
good test is to enter Service mode Printer and do colour test paternfault usually shows up here
try taking the dev clutch assembly out and cleaning it

          Regards WassaG

No. There are no voids in the copies. Basically on full color copies, the whole page has a magenta tinge to it. It is very faint and fairly even on the page. I will get back to it later this week.

                Hey guys,

I went back to the machine today and the problem was gone. The customer says one day it just went away. Just like when it appeared. I will keep all this in mind if the problem comes back. Thanx for everything.

Right, problems that go away by themselves, usually come back by themselves.

LMAO The mysterious "I have no idea how THAT broke" ghost in the machine.

Maybe the dv unit had some toner not properly taken off of the mag roller by the doctor blade or something-some initial setting problem-

Of the few I've worked on, I replaced a lot of PCU's. It could be an intermittent ground or something on your machine. Those machines had many little gremlins.

Also, I had to clean out the toner tubes A LOT. But, it may have just been isolated-they were in high-volume environments.
