Backup Address book and reformat hard drive.

    it could be corrupted.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Check the sc history? We recently had a bad sensor (sc373) causing the functional problem restart issue.

There is a SP setting for Auto Reboot on error. Change it so that it displays the Sc in stead of rebooting.

I got a little more time right now so I looked up the setting. SP 5875 SC Auto Reboot. Set SP 5875-001 to 1.

I think you will find that you thoroughly need to clean out the itb assy, maybe replace the belt and make sure all belt and id sensors are spotless.
