I need to update it to SD Scanner r4_2.05 version.
Need firmware update for that or how to update it.

Why do you need to update the firmware?

2.05 only cures a very obscure fault, which can easily be ignored.

          Hi Ruben,

I try to do smb scan on windows 7 computer it fails connection test. On windows xp machine able to scan. So I think the problem is with the scanner firmware need to update to r4_2.05 to scan on windows 7 computer.

          Thx,

Scanner firmware has nothing to do with SMB scanning, that would be NCS.

Leave this to Ricoh qualified engineers.

The usual problem with not being able to scan to SMB on Win 7 with a machine that was able to scan to SMB on windows XP is that win7 requires the use of authentication with a user name AND password. Many people have gotten used to not using a password with XP and do not want to setup a password for 7. To allow a default user to be automatically logged in, Userpasswords2 or netplwiz can be used. If you want to know how to use Userpasswords2 in win 7, just search "Userpasswords2 windows 7".

As Ruben said, you need NCS frimwar.

As to how to update it, call your local Ricoh dealer to dispatch a qualified tech.

You could also create an entirely new user just for the copier and give it a simple password. If the customer users the icon login screen, the new user will appear on it, you can remove it by editing the registry.

regedt32 -> Local Machine -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows NT -> Winlogon -> create a new Key called SpecialAccounts -> inside that create another new Key called UserList -> create a new DWORD (32bit) Value called the same as the username. Leave the DWORD value as zero to hide.

This only has to do with sharing files with other computers on the network so that other users on the network can read your files. You still have to change user right for reach shared folder if other users are to be allowed to write or modify files.

Password protected user name is a requirement of the version of SMB used with Windows 7 and Server 2008. The version of SMB used with Window 8/8.1 and Server 2012 is what requires firmware updates on most older MFPs. I have heard that Windows 8.1 Service Pack 1 has changed that, but have not encountered it as yet.
