    Ricoh MP C6502 / 8002

Hi, I feel a little annoyed with myself asking this. I am and been a Ricoh engineer for 24 years now and have machines up to MP C5502. I have just had a MP C8002 in and for the life of me can't get into the SP mode. It seems the same panel as the MP C5502's but I have pressed the Yellow Cancel and 107 then tried the normal Cancel at the bottom, held for 5,10, 15 seconds and all at the right speed. Also press the orange button at the bottom instead after the 107 but that says Cancel printing etc. So I am a bit lost.

    Can anyone help

Sorry for asking the basics. Like a mechanic on a car and no being able to get the bonnet open :-)

Thank you loads, got into it and all familiar as normal, better actually they have grouped some sp's together which is a good idea.

      Really appreciate it.

03's are the same if you see one.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

The japanese got annoyed one day having nothing to do and produced a way to get some more calls to the support center as they know nobody reads their crappy manual anymore. To get our life more tough they have invented even a more complicated 3D parts catalog just for fun.

I was once told it was to stop salesman selling other brands from messing with the SP settings, to make the machines look like they are faulty or poor quality. I have not seen this, so it is speculation.

The new service code isn't mentioned in most new manuals.

                You're on to something there

The 3D manuals are shit, perhaps it will work with the correct 3D glasses?

Also they name the parts different in the service manual, than the parts catalog... How difficult can it be...

The salesmen doesn't have enough brain capacity to pull a prank like this

We got told by ricoh that the code was changed due to it being widely available on the web and being misused by end users .Bit ironic this post now lol

Ricoh's original intent was to only make it available to tech when they went to Phase 2 instructor led training.

Factory service mode is still the same.

A bit of advanced warning. These may not be toner belching beast like the 6501, but some of the so called improvements to maintain optimum print quality will cause them to consume excessive amounts of color toner, around 13K instead of 29K. The waste toner container will not go the quoted 128K. 12K to 15K is about what you can expect. I have 6 machines that I have to take of. The first four were Ricoh national contract so we were not aware of the toner problem at first. After we delivered the other 2 that are under local contract, we quickly found out about the toner problem. My boss quickly saw that we were losing money of them with the amount of color toner they were using. I went to the other customer, only about a 1/2 mile away and printed the SMC log data and the toner bottle yields were the same. We had our regional out last Tuesday and he is submitting the problem to the engineers. What I have deducted from one of the bulletins is that you get the best life if the customer is making 10 pages per job or more at a coverage of 6%. Any thing below 10 P/J or 6% coverage, the machine starts going into toner refresh mode more frequently in order to keep the toner in the development units fresh. Obviously above 6% coverage more toner is going to be used but it will be going onto the paper and not into the waste toner container.

Yeah, the customers have to keep a lot of waste containers on hand if they are running a lot of copies.

We just empty them for our local maintenance customer. Ricoh has provided the other customer initially with 2 per machine. When they send one back they get another.
