    MPC4500 Asking for K toner

I have an mpc4500 that I visited for SC553, I reset this, restarted the mfd & now it just sits asking for k toner but I can feel the toner tube is full!
reading on this forum I suspect a failed toner pump?

Start with vacuuming out the entire toner system, especially the pump. If that does not work, you may have to replace the toner pump.

As a temporary measure, try to disable the toner end detection. Most of the times my customers can keep on using the machine until I stop by to replace the toner pump (don't forget to reenable toner end detection afterwards).

As a temperary messure I manually added toner to the PCDU by pouring toner in by hand!

When it comes back in i'll try & vav the pump out, I guess i'll need to remove it first?

It could be a defective pump , toner nozzle assembly, blocked toner tube , or a defective RFID board

Re: MPC4500 Asking for K toner

9 times out of 10 for me it was a bad pump. I've been teaching customers how to check for an empty toner bottle with their two fingers.
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

Thanks, I read on here that it is possible to swap the K pump with the M as a test, is this true as the part numbers are different!?

I suppose it is possible but it will dump the wrong colored toner that is in it in the wrong dev unit.

I only stock the Y pump and throwing them in mpc 2500 - 3500 not perfect fit but fine with me

Once again this site has helped me out!
I swapped the M & K pumps round & now the machine adds K toner fine, so obviously now soon will get a magenta toner issue but hopefully the new K pump will arrive before then!

                        Thanks guys 😎

All the pumps are the same, the only difference is tube length.

I noticed this, had to stretch the pipe slightly to make it fit, it's only a temporary meassure

No, the angle of the tube fitting is different on the pumps, but the tube will fit (kind of) anyway
