MPC6502/8002/PRO5100... what a waste... of toner. Luckily our customers use them mostly in printshop environment, so the WTB last a bit longer before they are full.

      Hey Tim,

It's in the SP3 range, I don't know off the top of my head but when I'm back at that particular client I will print out a non default page and scan it in for you.

I'm still in the testing stages at the moment, it seems to work but I don't know if it's going to change the life of the parts, I will wait and see

+1 for the SP's. An other wise solid performing machine ruined with constant calls for WTB full calls.

Just be thankful all the waste toner goes in the WTB, its predecessor stuffed toner anywhere but!!

                  Hi

I started this thread on the toner waste filling in no time. I have found the cure on my machines now. I have gone from 10-15k filling up to around 34k consistently. I know its not brilliant but the 7501 which this replaced had a bigger toner collection, filled up at 50k ish and poured a load of toner inside the machine for good measure. With the 8002, 6502, 5100 machines dropping toner, I have also included a mod for this which I did on the 7501's etc.

DEMS and the machine checking its density to often is the problem and when it does it checks, it basically dumps out the old and brings in the new to refresh the system for constant perfect quality.
With me altering off the various SP's has made no change to the copy quality and I have these in printers who do mainly short runs with the odd long one. Short runs as in 32 sheets of SRA3 as they do business cards etc. The machine produces good copies in my opinion anyway.

                  Go to SP3600 / 3 put to 1st power on, 3600 / 5 onto 1, this will prevent any toner dropping. 3600 / 40 DEMS to off.
                  SP3820 put to 0.0% from 1-4
                  SP3500 to Off

That is it. I have altered these about a 6 weeks ago now and all is fine.

Hope that helps and hope you are all having a nice day :-)

34K puts it close to the target value for the 5100 given in US bulletin 094. What affect has it had on print quality, especially color quality so far? Both of my accounts do a lot of color.

                      Hi Slim

I have been working very closely with the printers who are using these and they like it perfect every time so a bit worried but in all honesty they think the quality is perfect. I have prints from before the test to now and there is no difference what so ever. I know there must be a reason for Ricoh inputting this option but I can't see why apart from selling more toner!

I have found the toner consumption has halved also as I was constantly supplying toner it felt.

Hope me that helps and saves you time and money. Oh for the record one machine is a 5100 and the other is a 8002. Both fine.

                      Tim.

Oh yeah, this is the worst fuser to rebuild EVER!

The guy that designed it is probably still laughing about it.

I've used almost 3 hours, alright it was my first rebuild but this one kicked my butt.

Keep an eye on the different types of screws, take picture on the run to keep track of the million parts.

Do not remove the white gears on the fusing (induction) roller.
