[Error Code] MPC3003 intermitent SC672 error

I have an on going issue with SC672 on an mpc3003.
So far I have updated all firmware, currently it's all current.
I've also removed & refitted all connections on the controller board.
The code seems to be very random, a couple of times a day, then may go a few days untill it throws sc672 again.
Has anyone had this issue, I feel it could be a controller, ram or hdd fault but I dont want to order theese parts at a guess!
Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

SC672-?? T/S guide in the SM pointing to controller mainly, but also indicates op panel may be at fault. Check connections, etc.

Try completely disabling energy saver and AOF and see if it still codes out. The controllers in the 02/03 series are known for this issue. Also make sure all frimwar and JAVA are current..............

We have had this problem with almost every one of the 03 series our system has purchased. In most of the cases, the local dealer has said that the controller pcb was the problem and was able to get the controller pcb replaced under Ricoh warranty. Ricoh has a 1 year warranty on pcbs or at least that is what they told us. It may be they have some kind of special deal going on with the manufacturer. In any case, ask your local dealer if there is a longer warranty on the circuit boards. Maybe you can get a similar deal for your machines. Good Luck!!

This machine is about 2 years old so out of warranty!

All the fw is up to date

They're not using any java apps

do you have any 03s out that are in warrantee still? Just get the sp log data off one of those and claim for a dead controller that's what I would do.

1st thing to do is set SP5-191 to 1, this will never turn off the controller board even when the devices goes into energy saver mode

2nd, I need to know what SC672 is it?

I have have many of these SC672 errors in the past, the majority of them you can get away with not replacing the controller board, but I need more details such as, is it a SC672-11 for example

I went to the Ricoh service manual for the MP C3003 - 6003 and could not find the code, SP5191. Could you tell me where you found this code in the manual? That does sound like a very good way of fixing the problem.

I am confused.....what is a system manual? The only things I found on Ricohs website are a service manual, a parts manual, a PSG (product support guide) and the service bulletins. Where can I acquire a system manual? I would like to see one.

Troubleshooting the issue suggested this for you, hope that helps. It's the only relevant information I could find for you in the goose guide.

Replace Cable Connecting IPU and Operation Panel. Part number D1495225

                        Thanks for all this info.

I'll replace the cable first, as obviously that's cheaper, if no luck then i'll order a new controller board.

If I do need to replace the controller board what settings are lost, do I simply need to take the memory & NVRAM off the faulty controller & fit it to the new one?

Generally all settings are stored in the memroy and NVRAM, so swapping those into the new board should be little to no operations change, I believe. However, I'm not sure if the memery and NVRAM will be reset when plugged into the new board for the first time? I haven't had to swap out any boards my self, so I'm of little help to you there man.

the memory and NVRAM settings will be transferred over to the new controller. you just may need to update the firmware

I have just been back to this one. In SC history there is no record of sc672 only sc988, but the error on the panel is sc672

I checked the setting sp5-191 this was already set to 1 so I set it to zero.

Also they is newer fw so I updated all again!!!

I also removed & refitted all connections on the controller board. Will have to wait & see if it comes back in!
