    [CQ] Pro 8100 Blurs overnight

    Hi,

I have a Pro8100 that blurs only during the 3rd shift, 11pm to 7am shift, according to the customer. I have seen examples but can't duplicate 8am-5pm. Does tech bulletin 11 help? Or should I just replace the drum?

    Thanks,

    Byron

I would follow Bulletin 11, and plug in the built in ITB heater, keeps the drum warm and dry.

It's in a data center w/ good HVAC 24/7 system. Drum at half life DEV a little overdue. Happen after machine sits in energy saver for several hours.

I didn't think about the ITB heater. Does Ricoh leave it unplugged from the factory?

How many clicks on your itb opposing roller? I have hade two devices that didn't register any sc codes but hade funny issues from jam o99 code to white uneven bands and the culprit was that, now replacing them every 500k.

blurr created by coating bar material soaking up moisture especially when machine is never turned off. As mentioned before, do Bulletin 11 that includes a firmware update. This has worked for me and I have three of these in the field. Your Ricoh regional service mgr. should have a modification you can do to the drum cleaning lube bar that decreases the amount of lube wearing off the bar. Too much and it effects moisture control and density in the dev unit too.

DEF replace the drum. Once it starts to blur, it will ALWAYS do it when sitting overnight. The surface of the drum that was touching the lube brush gets contaminated and in high humidity conditions will not transfer correctly. There is a SP mode that will "help" temporarily but eventually, you will need to replace the drum.

                  Hi,

I did TB 11 and replaced the drum on the same call 4 weeks ago and they haven't called back yet. Fingers crossed. I used the old Ricoh color lube bar paper clip trick on the lube bar after the first one didn't go life

Best thing to do regarding the lube bar springs, is to attach the springs to each other rather than the post. As per Ricoh TSB

Ricoh does have the heater plugged in from the factory, I was thinking of the MP6000 and MPC6000, sorry about that.

Bulletin 11 has solved this for me on these with no need to replace the drum.

I've had/seen this issue, firmware fixed it
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

So you force the copier to work 24/7, and complain it's loosing focus? I think every copier deserves a good night sleep, like the rest of us to stay focused! :-D

yep, sounds like he's working the machine as hard as a crab fisherman from deadliest catch.
