Guys, any ideas on how to resolve light copy problem in this model. BW printing is pale. The total prints is around 60k (BW=30k plus, Color=30k plus). I always encounter this kind of problem in this model. Cleaning the optics did not resolve the problem. Is it drum problem?Any settings to be changed in the SP mode?

Re: LIGHT COPY (MP C2003SP)
what does the color test page look like?? Was it calibrated before the test page???????? Your click counts show 50/50 use, a bit more color than spec'ed, not that big of a deal though............Mystic Crystal Revelations -
Re: LIGHT COPY (MP C2003SP)
Even it is calibrated (User Tools-Maintenance), the image is still pale. When you check the PRINT TEST PATTERN, the black pattern is very light. After performing several force toner supply for black, I can get good copy. But that is only temporary solution just to show to the customer that the image is good after you service the machine.Comment

Re: LIGHT COPY (MP C2003SP)
I had a simalar issue on a 3003 after doing a forced tnr supply quality was good. So I did & forced supply then reset the PCDU counter & the machine then kept that same toner lever in the dev so all was good.Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

Re: LIGHT COPY (MP C2003SP)
Am having some machines 2003 with the same problem. The one I'm checking now has more or less exactly the same page counts (60k, 90% bw and 10% color). I'm wary of replacing the developing unit as it only has half the specced life.
The only big difference is that the problem only comes up on bigger print jobs - the machine recovers and maintains the quality on smaller jobs.
Going to try out Copier Techs solution.

Re: LIGHT COPY (MP C2003SP)
I had to run a procedure on this model the other day For this exact problem.
Check value SP 3210-001 if it is 3.5v or higher then do the following
Sp 3201-001 set value to 4%. (mine was at 9% to start)
after change make 1 copy or print internal test pattern this applies the value of the change you just made.
Execute SP 3050-003 three times (Toner add for black i believe it was.)
Check the value of SP 3200-001
if the value is 4 or higher your done if it is less then 4 repeat the above steps until it is 4 or higher.
This is bottom half of TSB #6 on the 2003/2503, the first part of the tsb is for light image only on lead or trail edge, this part i gave you resolves the whole page being light.Comment

Re: LIGHT COPY (MP C2003SP)
Not sure if anyone has taken apart the toner delivery system for one of these but I had an MPC2003 with feint black density.
We took it to the workshop and found out that the rubber auger in the toner hopper had flipped up.
The toner delivery system looks very similar to the SPC430DN and when it fails it's the same type of failure.
Because it was starved of toner those settings would have come in handy Council.Comment

Re: LIGHT COPY (MP C2003SP)
Hi
Did you replace the drum units recently? If not physically check that someone else did not. The 2003 has a brass plate in the rear pcu cover. If this cover is swopped with any other model that does not have it, the copies will be light - I have personally seen this. Also if you replaced the drum part of the pcu only, the covers that it comes with. does not have the plate in.
