    AF1013 Printing Prob

    Hi Guys

    I have a AF1013 printing the following.
    :%-12345x'pjl job*'pjl set autotraychange=on*pjl set pageprotect=auto*'pjl se

The PC will start spooling a test page of 196kb and delete it after a few seconds. The above is then printed out. I have tried other drivers and replaced the printer unit. Machine print via LPT1 port.

    Any ideas?

    PostScript Error

What you're getting is a PostScript error.

More accurately, the driver is sending PCL (Printer Control Language) print data to a MFP that is set to emulate PostScript. The printer doesn't understand the PCL commands so it just prints the characters of the commands verbatum, exactly as they arrive, usually just a few characters per page on hundreds of pages.

The solution is to get your driver and printer to speak the same language. There are many ways to do this:

    1) You can set your driver to emulate PostScript, or install a PostScript driver.
    2) You can set your printer to emulate PCL, or if you have the option "Auto" emulation is preferable (the printer can decide for itself which language is appropriate).

I haven't set up any Ricoh drivers, so it's up to you to figure out the specifics. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Print out a NIB summary.
A PS job without a PS chip prints a boatload of garbage.
        Load PCL5 or PCL6.
Sell the customer a PS upgrade at cost + 15% and save a lot of problems.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

The print out was a test page. The error was at the top of the page, nothing at the bottom. Did try on laptop and no it does not have an ethernet option.

            Nothing wrong with printer.
Set up paper size in user option (for both: copy mode and printer mode).
Read the text: set autotraychange=on, set pageprotect=auto.
