if its the main board the only way to test that is to try to format the hdd if it fails on a new 320 gb drive then main board is at fault.
if its the screen board, you need to replace the board behind the screen.
    good luck.
Thank you for very fast reply.

I'm able to print over network. I was also able to update firmware with SyncThrough, where everything is marked as "completed", but "UI" is "progressing" and never ends.

I tried restarting printer multiple times and few times I was lucky and display came alive. Everything was working at that point. But after next restart I was stuck at Samsung logo with spinner.

I was wondering if I could somehow try to upload new firmware to the OPS (screen board) directly via usb. If I use *0# i get message "waiting to download firmware ..." but I don't know what to do from here on?

If screen-board is defective - has anyone investigate this on component level what is causing problem?

For anyone with C9301 who is wondering how to upload firmware with SyncThrough (when there is no firmware upload button) - you have to go to "Applications" and then "install" and upload .hds file - after that you will see dialog for updating firmware. Took me quite a while to find that.

    Regards,
    Gregor

Re: Clx-9201 stuck on boot screen

After few restarts I was lucky to get system booted into UI. I was pressing "STOP" button on start, but I'm not sure if that was the key.
Once I was in UI, I was able to update UI firmware from there.

        After that everything works.

It looks like screen board is ok - it is just that firmware is corrupted.

It would still be interesting to know how to update UI firmware with *0# ...

Afaik, the direct link for firmware download on the HP website is to an ftp server that you can access directly by shoving the direct link address into windows explorer as some guy was circulating the general ftp link on the HP forums a while back.

Might find something there if you look around.

Re: Clx-9201 stuck on boot screen

I have the same issue. In my case the model is CLX 9301 and it is somewhat of a bootloop. I can hear initialization of the motors and I even removed and tested the HDD and and can hear it working. I have tried the firmware load option with 3 files and none of them seem to work. Just see the FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD MODE Ready to Receive Firmware... screen but no progress.
              Tried:
              -Samsung_CLX-92x1_93x1_Series_V6.P6.03.EC1512.10.hds
              -System Recovery CLX_9301_9201_EV11.11.14.09_FS11.01.00.00.71.ehd
              -UI Recovery V5.16.00.33.00_2015022623.hd

Nothing seems to take. How does one get the older firmware being referred to. The firmware that bricks the machine is what is available from HP direct which is Samsung_CLX-92x1_93x1_Series_V6.P6.03.EC1512.10.hds. I have seen a few of the OPE pwb available online but they are far away and pricey. If firmware can solve this issue can someone please provide a link to older version that will restore UI functionality please.

              Thank You

Re: Clx-9201 stuck on boot screen

I used a 4GB thumbdrive formatted as FAT32 I can try to look for something smaller but one is fairly modest.

Re: Clx-9201 stuck on boot screen

I am also seeking for the older Firmware, ie. Rev: V6.O6.09
HP is not use/helpful. They provide only the last version that cause the problem.

                    Can somebody share the file?
                    Thx in advance.

This link seems to have the file on it towards the bottom:

It has now been a while since I performed this update so please refer to my instructions as I found the process very vague and when it did finally work I tried to document.

I'm thrilled. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I had to find a 4GB flash drive with less storage and format it to FAT32.
Remove the "UI Recovery" prefix from the filename.
                          Then it worked perfectly.👍
