I have a Samsung SCX-6555n at a customers and the glass is really really hot. The energy settings are set for half an hour and i have tested that it does go off at that set time, which it does. Might the customer just be using too often before the half an hour comes and the scanner is just on all the time?

Re: Samsung SCX-6555n hot glass
The first thing that I would check would be that the optical fan filters are clean, and that the optical fan is functioning, and blowing in the correct direction (outward).
I had a service call on a Sharp SF-2027 years back, in which the customer said that the glass was 138F. This is really unusual, because customer observations are notoriously inaccurate, frequently not even close. It was a mechanical engineering firm, and they had used a bi-metal probe just like the one I have. And yes, the glass was 138F and at the fixing fan duct 168F (just like they said). On this particular model it was relatively common for the optical fans to quit, especially at 10 yrs old.
At least on the SF-2027 the normal glass temperature stays around 102F, with clean filters and functioning fans. I don't know about the SCX-6555N ... =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Samsung SCX-6555n hot glass
There are two energy save settings: One for scanner and one for main machine- might be worth checking to see what the scanner energy save is set to. Also, we have a few of these in the field and my observation is that they all run hot off the glass. Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?Comment
