    Sharp AR-287 scan unit jamming

Sometimes the scan unit isn't moving to the end and remains
at one position, then goes back and works fine for the next
20 or 30 copies. No error code is shown, The whole copy
    process is not interrupted
Out of 50 copies only one or two are not correctly scanned.

Has anyone run into this issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the scan motor is failing. You would need to detirmine if it is a 2 phase or 3 phase motor. Then if its 2 phase it will need to be changed to 3 phase along with the scan pwb and bracket. Another possibility is the bearings in the pulleys of the scanner units going bad.

My money is on scan motor, seen it enough over the years but it costs nothing to check pulleys and bearings.

Thank you for your fast help!!
I'm trying to get a new scan motor.
I guess it's the least expensive option.
        Kind regards

My guess would be the scanner drive pwb.

I ran into this on a AR 337....never could get it to work, even after changing the scanner motor, drive cables, scanner assembly friction pads. Good luck, I'll be interested to see what fixes your problem.

I agree with lobbelios. I've seen quite a number to the 2-phase motor driver PCBs go bad. And only one or two of the two phase motors (large brass flywheel).

I usually don't worry too much about upgrading to the three phase motor (no flywheel) if I have a good scrap two phase motor. But if you decide to do the upgrade, run simulation 26-59 to change from 2 to 3 (phase).

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

This is vert common, if the pulleys are good i usaully do the motor and board together, i'd rather absorb the cost then screw around and drag it out.
