Re: Sharp copiers service serial connector
I try to gain access to extended service "mode" where you can adjust more than you adjust in sim mode, for instance cannon, xerox allow more access for a tech, `I am working with range MXComment

Re: Sharp copiers service serial connector
You still did not mention models. Typically that serial port serves no purpose in the field. Personally I believe that it's used by the manufacturer to preload firmware or other data, but that software won't be available to any of us. Like the parallel port on many of the older Canons. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Sharp copiers service serial connector
There is a mode called special sim, or service sim mode for deeper adjustments. We had to call sharp to get it, they don't put it in the manuals because you can reset some serial numbers and counts and other such things. If a morally questionable customer got a hold of that, they could really rip off their service provider. I used to have it but we forgot what piece of scrap paper it was put on. It's so rarely used by us techs. You can probably find it buried online somewhere or just call the sharp hotline.
Hope this info is helped you.Comment

Re: Sharp copiers service serial connector
Granted I haven't done it on the models he was specifically asking about. That being said we have reset the counts in the eeprom in models like the MXM350.Comment

Re: Sharp copiers service serial connector
Resetting the count is your business, but when you try to make the chip work in a different machine its Sharp business. They don't want you to move options (PS3 EXPANSION KIT
BARCODE FONT KIT
INTERNET FAX EXPANSION KIT
APPLICATION INTEGRATION MODULE
) that you would have to pay for to another machine.

Re: Sharp copiers service serial connector
If the machine does not have a 'hard' keypad, you will not be able to access the special sims; if there is a way to access special sims, it's being guarded like Fort Knox."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" --Comment
