We have a MX4111 Machine keeps saying change waste toner container. We have checked sensor and waste auger motor and both work okay. Customer takes out the container and reinstalls it and it works for a few days before then the message comes back. We have supplied them with new genuine containers but the problems keeps coming back. Any ideas would be appreciated. The machine has been in the field for 3 1/2 years.

New containers usually solve this in my experience. Seals wear out. Try firmware -

I've seen this too, with a MX4112. Firmware is up to date. Also happening with new waste toners.
I noticed it printing with the waste toner out of the copier, but was that surprised I couldn't replicate this.Comment

Re: MX4111 Machine keeps saying change waste container
Have you thought about disassembling and vacuuming out the waste toner auger system? I'd also consider changing any of those lovely Sharp 73 photointerrupters that might be used to detect waste toner auger operation. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That fact that the customer removes the waste container and reinstalls it, then it works... would lead me down the faulty sensor roadWhen I started servicing copiers they used toaster ovens for fusers.....I'm oldComment

Re: MX4111 Machine keeps saying change waste container
CPLTM6569DS56 replace this part item sect45 item 501 in mx5111/4111 parts . . it is the waste toner motor assembly..
there is a switch (waste toner full switch) that is probably faulty. But the complete waste toner motor assembly could be covered in toner dust. no sensors or magic, the waste toner motor turns a coupling that turns a paddle in waste toner box. as waste toner fills, the paddle becomes harder to turn the coupling assembly starts to slip and the waste toner full switch is activated and waste toner full message on display.Comment
