    Sharp AR-M350 EF-1 Issue

Have an EF-1 - Coded out to U2:81 - Scnner Control PWB. Worked it to a point that I now have a message coming up on screen that reads - Please See Key Operator For Assistance: Code:PC. Look in Service Manual - no help. Called Sharp Tech Support. They thought that it was the Print Controller - changed, not so. Back to EF-1 Scanner Control Board - Not sure if there is a something to do short of Board Replacement - again. Tried EF-1 Scanner Board in two different EF-1's same Code.

I am thinking it is the Board itself, but sometimes the obvious isn't the obvious. Any thoughts on this one - Greatly appreciated.

There is a jumper that when removed, allows an external auditor to be installed in that connector.
If that jumper isn't there, you'll get the Personal Counter (PC) code.
Sorry, I don't have the jumper number or which pins need to be shorted.

I wish I could help. The manual is totally useless on the jumper issue. the only way to figure out the jumper setting is to take a look at the board you removed, or another functioning EF1.

If this is one of the early EF1's they had a main wire harnass issue, that usually manifested itself in the form of distorted 2nd side images from the CIS.

If it were me I would:
      1) Resolve the jumper issue.
      2) Pin out the cable from the MFP PWB to the scanner PWB, and replace if necessary.
      3) Replace the EF1 main wiring harnass.

I'll see if I can find anything more about the jumper. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for replies. I failed to mention that I had another harness - swapped that out with the board. I knew that this could be an issue. I have never had that as a problem but have been told this is something to watch for - point well taken. Still came up with a negative response. However, I think Jumpers are okay, but I need to take a look just in case.

Another thing to add, in the process of all this I purchased another Print Controller - one w/NIC Card - cheap purchase and something I had thought of doing for resell, once system repaired. With this board I am still coming up with the PC code issue. I will again check Jumper positions.

          Thanks again for input.

            Fixed

It was the Scanner Control PWB. Repaired at Hytech, and actually worked.
