    Snap Ring plier suggestion

    Hola-

I was handed down a nice plier for the fuser retaining rings but have since lost it. I bought some god-awful Harbor Freight unit with interchangeable tips but it always falls apart. Looking for a tried and true pair. I am afraid some of the nicer ones on Amazon may be too thick for the tiny circumference holes we need.

    TIA

I use this low-cost one (it does the job perfectly) but if you want something nicer, Knipex is the go to brand no ?

I'll get those. With the Knipex, I was worried the little prongs would be bigger for like automotive snap rings. Not sure what of these sizes are standardized.

I got mine off the snap on truck, been reliable for the last 6 years and if the tips ever go bad you can exchange them at the truck.

I always get a good feeling with Snap On tools. Maybe because of the calendar in my Uncle's garage growing up.

I got WORKPRO after my friend who works on cars sweared by them a while ago.

I use them routinely, purchase date Aug 2019... so far so good.

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.

In the old days I was mostly rebuilding fusers on console devices, so larger clips (25 to 50mm), so the larger tool was required. More recently I've been working on KM, Kyocera & Lexmark, which has microscopic clips (3 to 8mm), requiring smaller tools and grinding down the inner surface so they close down to nothing. It depends on what you're working on.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Nice, well-worn set. Personally, I've only needed them on Sharp fusers.
