    Toshiba 1208/Sharp MX-M1056

Hey, we have ONE of these that a customer ordered a few months ago.
Strange issue the tech doesn't understand...

Trying to make booklet covers, using the multi-bypass unit. It won't detect letter-r, just letter & legal?
Side guides are against the paper, from the picture he sent me.

    What are we missing?

What a mess this turned out to be. mojorolla helped me figure this out on a eS4505. I do not know if these same 08 modes are available to you, but it doesn't hurt to look. You cannot get the bypass to auto-detect LT-R, but you can default the bypass to LT-R. Here's the database entry:

When printing LT-R images Auto Color from the bypass screen prompts "Load LT-R Plain. Press [Start] to continue." at each transition from color to B&W or B&W to color. Color or B&W printing does not prompt in this way. There is no simple way to select LT-R paper size for the bypass (other sizes, yes). Selecting a CUSTOM equivalent 216 x 279 is not a size match. Set 08 modes: 08-4140 255 (bypass size undefined) > 80 (bypass size default LT-R), 08-4621 0 (auto size ON) > 1 (auto size OFF), 08-9164 0 (printing press [Start]) > 1 (printing auto start), 08-9165 0 (copy press [Start]) > 1 (copy auto continue).

      +^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
