At wits end with MX-4070N Wireless Issues

Our company just picked up another one of these MX-4070N MFPs and I am having the strangest issues with the wifi.

The options, both locally and via the internal web browser are completely missing...HOWEVER if I search the term 'wireless' in the sitemap I can directly access the wireless settings. It does see the local wifi networks so I know the card itself is functional and I have set it up for our wifi network. No matter how many times I save this seems to do nothing as the machine will not work without an ethernet connection.

As a side note, if I try to switch from infrastructure mode to Access Point mode I actually get a 404 not found error. The only thing I can think of is this thing has corrupt firmware on it. I've worked on a number of these and ive never seens a 404 error from the internal webpage like this before.

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe access to newer firmware?

That's a possibility... Haven't had anything like that, but if it's both machines doing it, I'd think it's something with your settings. One thing I would suggest, if possible, setting up a separate wireless SSID with ONLY 2.4ghz band set up. My guess is your network is trying to put them on the 5ghz band and having trouble with it.

Sorry if I wasnt clear, the issue is with the new unit. The other 2 4070s are fine. We have a dedicated 2.4ghz network for the printers and some security devices that dont do 5ghz so thats not the problem.

I put the device in sim mode and verified the wifi is listed as on as well. I was able to link up with a sharp tech with some amazing knowledge and I think he has me on the right path. I am just gonna nuke the thing from orbit and start from scratch and see if that gives me access to the settings once again.

You could also try resetting the NIC through either the machine settings or webpage. I've had that fix some things before. Rather than nuking the entire thing and restarting. The other option, somehow, is there could be a part that is failing, given the age of the machine. HDD could be failing, but you'd need a dealer to replace it usually.

Yea I already an the NIC reset and the factory reset in the Service mode. No joy with either of them unfortunately. Gonna take the machine down in about 30 minutes and see if I can wrestle it into submission with a new fresh set of firmwares

Though it will take an hour to an hour and a half, you could FULLY reset the machine... But also, you could push the configuration from another machine as well.

"the issue is with the new unit"
It's a model from 2016, check for the firmware and check if the WiFi dongle is here and correctly mounted (it's a cover on the left on the screen, 3 screws).
              The last one is CR4_08.02.Z1.00_24030600

Has it been cloned to before? Have seen similar bugs with clone settings before. I'd be doing PDI in security settings, all basics which you pretty much covered. FW, NIC reset, try to clone another 4070.

Since the MX4071S models did not come with the wireless adapter mounted on the machine (COVID chip shortages I'm told), we've stolen a couple from older N-models to make the S models work. Maybe someone stole your adapter, if you haven't looked for it yet (left panel in front of OC glass/slit glass)

Had a similar issues couple of years back on an MX3070V. Running 'initialize private data' in settings, security settings solved the issue. Something was messed up in the setting and would not reset with NIC reset or system settings reset.
