    Sharp BP-70C65

We just bought a few used Sharp BP-70C65 copiers. All of them are coming up with this message "Could not access the accounting server. Contact your administrator."
Any suggestions how to remove this or completely reset them.

When you buy used machines, it is always best to reset them to factory defaults. It will get you back to a starting point that is not configured by another company, or worse, their IT. If you have the admin password, go into Settings, log in as admin, then go to, I believe, System Settings, then System Control, and then Restore Factory Defaults. Let it do its thing, then reboot the machine, and you should be good to go

Sounds like you have something set up in the Sharp OSA settings. Usually Software like Papercut or PrinterLogic can have an accounting server setup. Check System Settings -> Sharp OSA settings -> External Accounting Application Settings and disable.

Or just reset them to default.

As mentioned above, they are running papercut, turn off external accounting in OSA settings.

Do you have access to any other Sharp devices?

You can export the settings using SIM56-2, to a USB stick, then import onto the BP. This will overwrite a few settings, including the Admin password.

At this point you can initialise to factory.

Definitely don't recommend this unless you absolutely have to. Cloning any settings over to a BP, even from a BP is now a massive no-no from Sharp.

Just import the user settings, then reset the whole machine.

We tried copying BP-machines with 56-2 instead of importing our standard profile on the webpageand had heaps of sh*t with these machines untill we reloaded our profile through the webpage.

So no more USB cloning for me

It's super annoying, too, every other manufacturer has a way to copy settings from one machine to the next... Even on older models, there was risk with cloning, but it was super minimal, and the good outweighed the bad 99% of the time.

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.

Wait is this an issue even when cloning with a USB through the settings instead of simulation? We have been cloning settings from MX to BPs without any issues so not sure if we should not do it anymore.

Yeahhhhhhh no, definitely don't. Our DSS pretty much said he won't even help us troubleshoot unless we factory reset the machine first, if we clone to a BP. He's told me enough horror stories to make me not want to try it. Especially because we've had a couple machines from the 71' series being slower after cloning, and not being able to cure it, just convince the customer it's "normal". Even cloning to and from the same model and/or firmware has caused loads of issues for dealers.

You, my good sir, have been lucky.
