    MX6070N - Faded Black

    Hi guys,

got a sharp MX6070N that at first had a issue with the black developing unit.

we have swapped out the black drum/Dv unit now which fixed the issue but now after two months its doing the same thing

now looking at the lifes (attached) the CMY drums are end of life, i presume it could be down to them which is causing the Black DV unit to fade out?

    has about 150K

Looks like your black developer is is being depleted. The diagonal lines give that away. Run T.C. 25-01 and check the black reading. If it is different then the others you need developer and possibly new drum and MK kit.

Might be the middle toner hopper unit not adding toner. Have seen this a few times. Not too terrible to replace especially if you have the RB-10 ??? on it.
Remove that and the plastic assembly for all the drums and developers!!!!

Sharp also recommends replacing the waste toner when the developer is being depleted but it has usually been the drum unit in our case causing the issue. Did you replace the waste toner in the 2 months since the issue came back?

Oh boy... Where to begin... Pull the corresponding drum, if there are wear rings on it, the whole unit needs replaced (NOT just the drum/charge kit). If that looks fine, the discharge lamp could be dirty behind the process unit, the transfer contacts could need cleaned, or it also could be the MC PWB contacts or just the board itself causing it. Oh, it also could be aftermarket toner or waste boxes causing it, too. It's an expensive and fun problem to troubleshoot. SO much fun.

At this point, you have replaced mostly everything involved, minus the PCU PWB. Genuine toner?

Also, check the drum again. Sharp has had a bunch of these process units fail because of the seal under the cleaning blade. Still happens to us after replacing them sometimes.
