Check the spring clutch for the bypass tray, it might be dry and/or dirty.

Also common on the Jaguar1 series, the fuser mounting screws can strip out in the plastic frame. So the sound you're hearing may be the fuser drive gears skipping off of each other. If yes, it's not a simple repair to replace the upper frame ... a lot like building a copier from scratch x2 (take everything off of the frame, then put everything back onto the new frame). =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Xerox made an identical machine that I use to work on about 20yrs ago, the XD150 I believe it was. They had a number of issues. Like the OP, can't recall many of the things, but I recall the fuser Gear use to crack and make noise, but still work. The Solenoid behind the machine, I think, the paper feed pawl release was the most common issue, it use to stick. Anyway remove the fuser and examine the fuser heat roller drive gear carefully.
