    [Misc] fuser cleaner

    Hello,

What are you guys using to clean fuser rollers?

We were using Katun Fuser Roller Cleaning Solvent PN36789 but we can not order this anymore...

    Re: fuser cleaner

Cleaning fuser rollers typically does not last long ... but when I do, first disconnect the network cable. I apply 2 or 3 drops of silicon oil to the heat roller, then open and close the door a couple of times to make the machine go through warmup/initialization. It's the combination of silicon oil & heat that loosens up the buildup. If you applied the right amount of oil, the first piece of paper will pass through (not jam) with oily stains and the toner buildup left on the paper. If there is too much silicon oil the paper will continue to jam until enough oil had deposited onto the leading edge of the jamming paper to let a page through. Make sure that you are not duplexing or letting through a duplex print job from the network. The silicon oil will slime up the duplex rollers and be left on the drum on the second pass.

You may have to repeat a couple of times. Just remember that if toner continues to build up, either the media settings are wrong, or the fuser rollers need replacing. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Lacquer thinner will clean it off in short order. The silicone oil should help it keep it clean longer.

If running clean paper doesn't clean it the rollers are probably bad.

If you are doing this to one of the newer Sharps, they have a feature in Settings/Image Adjust? that runs a cleaning paper through. A yellow arrow for color units and a black arrow for Mono. I use this all of the time on the new models, works pretty good.

          Good luck

            Re: fuser cleaner

I know that there is a "fuser cleaning function" on the machines with the yellow/black 'arrow'.

The thing is, this does not help when there is a lot of buildup on the pressure roller.

We're putting the cleaning rollers on ALL fusers (phoenix/griffin) from now on to avoid that buildup. (seems to help in our test-cases)

Hoping the BP-series will be better at this...

But the question was: what are you using to clean fuser rollers...since we can not order the katun stuff anymore...
