    Blue line on scan

I have problem MX -B376WH at a customer when they scan to email, they get a blue line the scan only thing its intermittent. I have tried changing the setting for scan to gray scale the problem went away for a day but has returned. Has anyone having this problem with this copier.

    thank you

Not familiar with that model but I would try cleaning all optics.

Is the line always at the same place? Clean optics!

get a flashlight and shine on the slit glass,100% sure there is a ink dot somewhere.

I have cleaned the optic and the slit glass, the blue line moves and sometimes the scans are clean. also made a change the color scan to B/W.

Although it's rare, I have seen a faulty system board cause random thin lines. Maybe reseat the board and whatever chips that may be installed on it. Might help eliminate it. Or possibly the ribbon cable on the ccd.

We had a new machine, maybe an MX3071 or similar, that would put a blue line on the second side through the ADF. Ended up calibrating it with the white reference chart (E-shaped paper) and it worked just fine. I imagine replacing the board wouldn't have been necessary, but who knows.

im not a sharp tech. but have had a similar experience. come to find out. the AC vent was almost directly above the copier. it was almost completely brown it had so much dust. when the AC would kick on dust would get in the air. and believe it or not it would get onto the slit glass. customer would wipe the glass and it would go away until the next day. i have also seen someone cleans over night with a vacuum cleaner and kicks up dust. and i bet that is why it appears to move. thats something simple to check out before getting into what everyone else recommends.
