[Misc] Sharp Toners with "C" ending

    Hello,
Does anyone know what these toners from Sharp represent?
    MX-61NTYC - US version
    MX-61GTYC - EU version
They seem to be OEM by Sharp but never seen with this "C". Also the printer rejects them.

    Thank you

Re: Sharp Toners with "C" ending

Two quick online searches came back with Compatible and Contract. I have never heard of Sharp using Contract toner like I have heard of Xerox using. Maybe I don't understand the Xerox plan correctly but I thought they had two types of the same toner. One worked in non-contract equipment and the other in contract equipment.

When you say they are rejected what exactly happens when you install one?

I just found a MX-61NT-BC for sale in California on eBay. Certainly a Sharp box and has the Sharp NJ address on it so it is for the US market.

We ended up with 4 of them. Can only switch a 'low toner' chip onto them and install in a contract machine (slides right in).
Not sure how long it will run, but have had past success with this

These are supplied by Sharp for their machines under a contract.
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

Hello again and thank you all for your replies

I have never heard about Sharp Contract toners. I don't see such info on the internet.
Compared to other brands where the information is quite clear. For example HP Contract/MPS, Xerox Metered.
That's why I was skeptical about this version.

Also, noted only these part numbers (MX-61) with this "C" endings. If they were Contract as some internet sources states, than why only this manufacture code/part number?

When you insert the toner, the printer simply takes it out without any info on the panel.

So does Sharp install special firmware for these copiers that are under contract with them? This would be Sharp Business Systems? We service several accounts for SBS that they proved the equipment and we installed them out of the box and none of them use this toner.

SBS is extremely poor with details. Most of the time it is a nightmare working with them. I can't imageine any SBS location keeping straight which copiers used C toners and which don't.

Never heard of these toners either. :|
We have Xerox MFP's, and we keep both metered and non-metered toner, never heard Sharp Corp doing the same thing.

When Konica Minolta had the toner factory fire and was on Back Order with many different supplies during Covid, to fill in they started buying toner ctgs from alternate factories/suppliers. Konica Min added a letter at the end of the part # to subtly & internally signify they got the toner from a different vendor than their usual source.
Just recently, Sharp was experiencing lots of BOs too. And the MX-61 color toners were some of the ones that were hard to get. I wonder if Sharp isn't doing something along the same lines? I am only speculating, don't know this for sure. But could be possible.

I have bought chips from rechargerstore in Canada to replace faulty chips. They always worked. You could probably buy from there or elsewhere and swap the chips to get them to work.

You're right about Konica Minolta, but we've never had issues with them. The printer accepted them.
But for Sharp, dozens of toners were rejected by the printer.
