    Airpint with authentication

    Hello all,

Is it possible to airprint with iPhone when authentication is enabled?

The only way i get it working is when i change the "Default User Name for User Authentication:" to "admin" in the airprint settings

Then i dont get a pop-up, even if the pw is blanck, and then only black&white works.

If i use any other user, with login/pw or login/usercode, the username pop-up keeps coming up.

An iOS device can print to a MX-XX50/XX60/XX70 device using authentication. However it must be as username and password, not a PIN number . This is an iOS limitation. (From Support)
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

All very good and well...the airprint manual says the same thing...but have you actually tried this?

No, but here is the rest of the answer from support site: Make sure of the following settings to ensure correct operation.Network settings > External Print Services Settings > AirPrint Settings > IPP-SSL Enabled
User Control > Default Settings > Enable IPP Authentication Except for Printer Driver
If you want to stop non authorised printing , tick the following option .
User Control > Default Settings > Disabling of Printing by Invalid User
NB , The MX3050 requires the MXPK13 Postscript option

        Does this help?.

tried all of this, only prints in BW, and only when user 'admin' is filled in

ps: there are no color restrictions on the users

An alternative for now, is using the Sharpdesk Mobile app. Eliminates Apple breaking things every update, especially when user authentication is enabled.

But has anyone actually ever tested this instead of searching for work-arounds?

I have an MX-4070 on the field which airprints with username and password just fine. I remember I tested in the office before doing it and it tested fine here too.

There is also a setting so that the copier still allows bw or color jobs received without any authentication. This could work depending on what your customer wants.

One thing to try is changing "other user" to having admin credentials
