    AR-BC260 Gray scale looks brown

Anybody run into this problem of having the gray scale look more like a brown scale? I went through all the calibrations steps and it did not help. Maybe I skipped the one, of the one thousand steps, that I needed most.

I have attached the original, a copy from two good machines and then the one that looks brown.

    All comments are welcomed. Thanks

You probably know what I'm going to say.

The calibrations on this machine are so touchy that you never get the same result twice. Especially if you have to adjust the LED head skew & focus.

Did you do the LED head skew & focus? high voltage adjustments? Did you know that you must have (4) new cartridges to get a good calibration? I can forward you a calibration procedure. I suspect that you have already done some or all of it, but the order of adjustment matters also.

Only the LED head adjustments are difficult. The rest is just plodding slow work, and having to shut off the machine to lock in the various adjustments (at least 5 times before you're done).

When I get home I'll forward the docs I have via PM.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Did you change the DEF1 to DEF2 or DEF3 and then run your 46-24 Auto color adjust (going off memory here)?

I only had one of those machines in my area and we had a HELL of a time with it. The LED adjustment is a real pain in the ass to get tweaked. Biggest mistake I ever did on that machine was rebuilding the transfer belt unit instead of just replacing it at PM times. After a while it starting to wear and was giving L4-07 codes. We would change the belt and it would run for a while then come back.
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

If you are still not happy with the grayscale after doing the full color cal that Blackcat is sending you, get yourself the ID Calibration Jig for the transfer belt P/N: CPLTM6305FC01. Follow the directions in the service manual on performing the Jig adjustment. It will reset the calibration levels to a better gray. Works a treat for me. Has saved me many times.

The color adjustments on this box really are crap. You need a SIT chart to calibrate the ccd, and whats up with the four times with the 11x17! I never had a lot of luck with these. The only good things came when the customer replaced the machine. Good luck, you will need a lot of it with these. Also get your self some tray lift motors and toner drive gears, you will need a lot of them even though Sharp upgraded them they still fail! The other problem I had was B/W copies are light. I had to change the default exposure from auto to text on almost every box because if the customer does mostly b/w copies they just look light.

              Thanks Guys

I have the sit chart and the calibration jig for transfer belt. I guess I will just rinse and repeat.

I too thought the calibration jig should have tweaked my gray scale.

              Thanks for everyones input.
