    Sharp AR 156 ghost jams

I have a customer with a Sharp AR 156 (also one with a Sharp AL 1630) that says the copier shows the jams lite, but no paper jam. They open and close the side door, or turn off the copier, and it resets.
I went by and checked the fuser and reg. rlr jam switches. They seem to be fine. The fuser spring door works great. I was resetting the drum counter when I cleared the simm. The jam light did come on. The copier made a noise that seemed to come from the far left side of the copier. I opened the right door, checked the fuser door, and the reg jam lever, both fine. the jam stayed. I turned off the copier, the jam stayed. I think I pulled out the cassette and turned off the copier, then the copier came back up.

Is there anything that could do this. Remeber when the thermistor would go back and show a jam on the old SF 755'. Is ther anything I am missing.

    Thank you,

I had similar symptoms on a machine with the second tray. It had a bad doorswitch. Here are the references:

    1) Misfeed that won't clear. The right side door interlock leaf spring is bent, so that the interlock switches are actuated even when the door is open. The display never changes to "CH" when the door is opened. Remove & reform the right side door interlock leaf spring.

    2) Misfeeds letter size paper from tray #1 after it exits. The jam can only cleared by opening the lower right door. The 2nd cassette paper sensor (PPD3) is dusty. In simulation 30-01 none of the sensors are illuminated (2nd cassette lamp indicates for PPD3). Clean the 2nd cassette paper sensor and flag. Remove the lower cassette port for full access.

    Good Luck =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

On the fuser is a gate you can bend back to take the fuser preasure off. Also on that gate is a flag that the fuser uses for exit detection. I have seen that crack and you can actully move the flag back and forth on the shaft and the machine thinks there is a jam there since the sensor is not blocked because the flag has moved.

If it's cracked, replace the gate.

I have been using the fuser out of the AR208 for fuser replacment on the AR151 and AR168. The AR208 fuser actully has fuser pawls on the lower roller instead of the scraper that destroys the roller and the "improved" heat roller that supposedly does not double image as bad.

The stated machines above seem to handle the fuser fine, i put it in a AL machine once though and it would give random H4 codes.
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

I remeber that I also have had this problem on a customers machine.

Check the jam history under sim. 22.

Sometimes I know that the springs in the cassette seems to be weaken after awhile. Just stretch them out.
