AR-M237 half grey then half white

Customer uses strictly as copier. Customer called 10 minutes ago and said side to side copies are grey and then white with more than half page grey. She says first part of page is grey. I know I am jumping the gun but does it sound like laser problem. I am going there this afternoon and wanted to get this in in case I have aproblem and need to refer to tech site help. If your close to the PM time, do the PM, if not, check the main charge unit, at the rear, toner build up on the screen grid at the contact point can cause something like you described, sometimes they tend to dump DV or toner out when this happens also, be ready for a mess.

I'm with vincent. Do the PM first if it's close. Normal failure of a drum could conceivable account for drum ground bars. Or dumping developer. There really not enough information here for an educated guess.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I was there this afternoon and it was 5'' of background then 2 1/2" white and last inch background again. It looks like a similar to a bias problem and there are equi-distant vertical lines on back of paper. They are 1 5/8" apart.
It doesn't appear to be a transfer problem as the background pattern is on drum. I did not have an mc unit. I had recently changed the drum and blade because of lines and after changing drum and blade lines were still there. After cleaning out the mc unit the lines diaappeared. Now 3 weeks later this background problem.
It may very well be the mc unit but I ordered the whole process unit this afternoon just in case.
I know I mentioned it looked like a bias problem and yet I didn't explore the the SIM 08/ subcodes .
I 'd rather wait for the process unit to come in and try that before trying any charge adjustments.
thank you for your suggestions and I realize there was little to go on before I got to customer's office. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

I don't think a new process unit comes with a charger.

When ever i do drum and DV on this model i always change the charger or i get called in mid way for lines from the charger.

How many clicks on the machine, DV, and the new drum?
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

According to the parts diagram it includes all parts but the drum and the drum fixing plate that little round plastic piece that locks drum in place. Frank

was there today with new process unit. I just changed the MC unit first to see if it was that and no luck. I put the new process unit in machine with the old mc unit and the drum from old unit and the machine is okay now. Iguess it is a blade problem though it didn't look like one unless something is causing some kind o discharge on unit. I ' ll test it out on next call with an AR-series that uses this process unit and I'll change the blade. It was a new blade + OEM. Frank/ActionPhotocopy
