On the prints and copies I am getting a Red line or band (2-3 mm. wide) from top to bottom every 57-58 millimeters. it is darker at the outer edges and lighter towards the middle. went there for this problem and it needed black drum replaced. did that, meter at 108K and transfer unit over two years old so I thought that would get rid of this red band. Replaced Transfer belt and the band is still there. Did try a different magenta toner and no difference. Also tried diff. magenta drum unit, no help. Tried many of the color adj. went through the color calibration procedure. What the heck is causing this? Thanks for any help

It's the developer drive gear. Replace all four. The magenta is only the first to crack.
Search 'Whale Apyllon gear' and you find a handful of posts on the subject.

Order 4 x NGERH1530FCZ4.
Actually, order more if you have more Whale machines out there, 'cos you're going to need them eventually.Comment

It's almost as though you wrote it yourself. This is the record in my spreadsheet:

Void bars 2.5mm wide in the half-tone magenta part of the image only, in the crossfeed direction, @ 57.66 mm intervals, on AR-C260M.
Cracked helical developer drive gear for the magenta toner cartridge (268k copies). The effect is demonstrated best with self print #4.
Replace the magenta developer drive gear (NGERH1530FCZ4), & poly slider (LX-WZ0094FCZZ).Last edited by blackcat4866; 01-17-2010, 04:55 PM.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

That poly slider is a load of crap.
We started fitting them immediately after being released, but still saw just as many gears crack with the slider installed behind the gear.
In my opinion, the gear will crack no matter what you do. The latest part number breaks slightly less often. Its your call if you want to fit it.
Thank goodness we only have a handful of these left now. Almost got everyone on MX's.Comment
