Pickup roller on adf not activated. i was there about a week before when documents were going in half-way. I removed various screws to lift adf and gain acces to transport rollers which were dirty. After cleaning adf worked fine but because only several day before new problem I am wondering if when I put adf back into position if I may have overlooked something. I used to have a couple of extra adfs in order to help troubleshoot problems but after moving much smaller quarters I had to get rid of a lot of excess stuff. I have a pickup assembly I can go back with but want to cover all bases. The belt was definately on pulley. Could transport clutch become disengaged after lifting transport unit and placing it back down after cleaning transport and delivery rollers. If transport clutch were disengaged would that prevent pickup. I t just seems too coincidental. Your help is always appreciated. Frank

I have had the pickup roller assembly wind up on top of the plate that drops down when in operation and it caused a situation very similar to what you mention. Happened when I was cleaning dirty rollers but the problem showed up right away. Also have had issues with the clutch slipping if you haven't cleaned and regreased the spring.
Good luck.

Your welcome. One other thing that I have done that caused the rollers and belt not to turn is I put the clutch spring (after I cleaned it) in backwards. But once again the problem showed up right away.Comment

I agree wil bilyan on all counts. Most commonly, I got the drop-down linkage incorrectly positioned during cleaning. Also clean and grease the pickup roller drive clutch.
When you say the belt is not turning, do you mean the belt in the back that turns the timing pulley for the whole feed door? If yes, you may have accidentally unplugged the main SPF motor when you accessed the registration rollers. I've done this to myself many times. Also check that the belt is still looped over the motor pulley. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yes that is exactly what I mean , the belt in the back. I will check the motor connection as that may be susspect. The only reservation I have is that when I originally cleaned the transport rollers the adf worked fine immediately after i reassembled after cleaning. So I am wondering why it worked for almost a week unless the connection came a little loose and then finally disconnected entirely. Thanks Blackcat. Frank/ActionPhotocopyComment
