    MX5500N Stained trail edge

We have an MX5500N that is leaving black toner on the very trail edge only in color mode. Tried adjusting the lead edge so we know it's not image position. Latest firmware, new color, & primary transfer, black supplies are about 1/2 their life. Any thoughts appreciated.
    Hope that helps !

There are alot of known issues and fixes for marks/smudges on the Lead edge or near the lead edge of the C-Dragons, but rarely any info on or do I see trail edge problems.

I'd check/clean/adjust the fuser entry plate, check the fuser web drive unit gear is not worn/damaged (updated part) causing poor fuser cleaning, make sure the reverse PG pawls are fitted (mod part) and the delivery unit paper path is clean. Also check the black process unit is not covered in toner over its covers. This is an obvious sign of overtoning, which will cause toner spray onto the primary belt.

Is the document single or double sided? Any chance of a sample page Tony?

It's single sided. I'll try to scan some samples in tomorrow.
      Hope that helps !

Here is a scan of a staggered stack. It's on the very trail edge so you wouldn't be able to see them if scanned individually.

Looking at your scan sample, it looks like the trail edge is simply wiping past something through the paper path. The areas where the trail edge would do that is in the rego/PS unit, delivery unit or inside the RBX drawer. A thorough check of the paper path will determine where the source is coming from. Or, stop the pages in the machine at different locations to examine what is on the paper at that point.

Thank you for the sample page Tony.
