[Error Code] MX5500 Error code H3-05

I have MX5500 with H3-05 code; replaced a damaged upper heat roller cleaned all thermister. warming up period noted to be long. It then came up with H4-30; on clearing the code it cme up with H4-04, on clearing this third code MFD came up Ready to Copy. I did few copies and it came back with H3-05 again. I have ordered a kit for the External heater lamp. Has anyone got something to offer. Thanks.

    Several things to look at.....

Firstly, check all thermistats. One or more might have tripped out. Push the button on top to reset.
Next, you need to check all the lamps. If you are sure the lamps are all good (sub heater lamp modified part number RLMPU0727FCPZ), thermistats & thermistors are good, check the harness from CN10 on the PCU board to CN3 on the HL board. Also confirm CN12 on the PCU is connected properly, as this harness goes to the fuser connector.

It would be very rare to be a harness or connector problem, but I wanted to mention it anyway due to you having several different codes, but the problem would most likely be a tripped thermistat (especially due to very long warm up time) or maybe a lamp broken.

The C-Dragon fuser unit as a spare part has all the mods done to it as well for increased paper clearance. If you cant seem to find the problem, put a new fuser unit in, and then confirm that warmup, pre-heat and sleep mode timers all work ok without error code. After that you should be OK.

The customer had an urgent reports to print, hence I installed new fuser and it came up and running.
All working ok as normal. Thanks.

OK, new fuser solved issue. That rules out any harness problem in the engine.

Keep the old fuser, fit the MX700UR kit (thermisters etc etc) and the sub heater unit. If the rollers are still good, the thermistors & thermistats are most likely are that is needed to get it working again.

I have and it don't work. So you were right as usual. He can pm me if he needs the firmware and I'll hook him up with what he needs. Wonder if the thing has data security on it? You know those are a different set and u don't wanna erase with a standard flash lol.

Just want to make a point here which i think was a mistake someone else could make. I checked the sub heater lamp with a multimeter without disconnecting them and both lamp had continuity. Having opened up the defective Fuser giving H3-05, I noticed that one of the sub heater lamp was burnt. The point to note here is that both lamps have a common connector plate inside which is covered by the cover hence I was misled by assuming that both lamps were ok.

In the nutshell H3-05 will come up as result of burnt external sub heater lamp.

Exactly why I mentioned the Sub Heater Lamp new part number. The part number hasn't been updated, but the part had been. It was upgraded to have extra element supports within the lamp itself. You will notice the old type lamp has 5 supports at each end, but the new lamp has 7. The original type lamp element was sagging and touching the glass of the lamp and blowing out.

But you bring up a good point about the common connector plate.

You must have a very old fuser unit in that machine, because that lamp was updated Oct 2006.
