    ARFX8 added to ARM700N and MXM700N

Have 2 used ARFX8 that are from known good machines. Installed 1 onto MXM700N, initially showed the fax ROM version (1.01 I think) in sim 22-6. Updated ROMs on machine and then fax. Machine update fine get NG for the fax. Now sim 22-6 shows nothing for the fax ROM version (just blank), no numbers and no dashed lines and we get a F6-00 when we start the copier. Replaced unit with another unit that I had and I get the same results. I take both units to a ARM700N and mix and match PWB, fax, cable and ROMs. Still get the F6-00 and sim 22-6 shows nothing for fax, again blank with no numbers or dashes. I do not have the 8Mb memory installed but I tried 66-10 and various other resets and can not get the unit to register. It seems unlikely that both fax units would go bad at the same time and have the same issues with the install on 2 different machines. Have the most recent firmware from Sharp. Any suggestions on the best way to go from here?

Thank you in advance for your time and effort in this matter.

You can try cleaning the copper connectors of fax flash ROM. If it fails you probably have to get a new fax flash ROM.

I would also check connector CN1 to the FX8 box. I've seen a few get damaged going through doorways. If you're good with a soldering iron, you can change only the connector on the MDMC PWB (OSOCN0082FCZZ) and the I/F cable (QCNW-0219FCZZ). I've fixed a few that way. Good luck. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

The latest combined firmware file for ARM550-700 series includes the current ARFX8 firmware that is only compatible with RoHS PWBs.

If v1.00 or v1.01(D) is displayed, the ARFX8 is using the original PWBs therefore, disconnect the ARFX8 before executing the firmware upgrade.

For vn1.01D & vn2.00D (or higher), there is no need to disconnect the ARFX8.

If the original ARFX8 is upgraded by mistake and F6-00 trouble is displayed, perform the following corrective procedure:-

        1. Power off the MFP.
        2. Remove the ARFX8 Flashrom and insert on CN6 of the ARM550-700 MFP PWB.
        3. Switch the MFP Dip switches to Diag Mode.
        4. Power on the MFP.
        5. Using Job Status button, select CN Update.
        6. Download the ARFX8 firmware (v1.01D) using the upgrade tool (Centronics, USB or Network).
        7. Select FAX and CN6 as the destination - press start.
        8. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, power off the MFP, refit the ARFX8 flashrom & change the DIP switches back to default.

If you need the correct firmware file for this problem, let me know.

In Michigan? Perspiring like crazy. The other half of the first floor is almost ready for the drywall hangers, showing up tomorrow 8:00 am. I have one small room to prepare, hopefully before the hangers catch up to me. I am quite relieved to be as ready as I am.

Monday 6:00 starts with herding cats into a room upstairs, and providing for their needs for the next week upstairs. It is the wife's turn to stay home this week with the drywall guys.

                  wazza,
You're Southern hemisphere... Doesn't that mean that your seasons run opposite to ours. North America is just leading into the hottest 8 weeks of the year (95 F/35 C). Is this your cold season?

I'm not sure if I'm reading your temp right but it shows 10C. Is that the high or the low? Sounds just about perfect to me. That's what our lows have been here!!!!

According to my web search wazza has 45F at night to 59F during the day. That's T-shirt weather for Michiganders. Anything over 35F is T-shirt weather. =^..^=

                          Geez guys....

Well its cold for us anyways. I forgot that you guys get snowed-in during your winters!!
Its been around 10C here during the day, down to 3 or 4 during the night. The wind chill is actually colder due to the southern winds from Antarctica.

Alright.... alright..... I'm sorry. You guys get it colder than us. I'm just bit*hing 'cos its cold for us, thats all.
Although it is good getting into a nice printroom with a few machines running full speed. Sure warms up nicely.

What can I say... I'm cold-blooded.... I need a little bit of heat.

In three or four weeks, when things are straightened around again.

The wallboard is up. It's in the hands of the tapers now.
Sorry for hi-jacking your thread bilyan. =^..^=
