    ARFX7 ROM updates

Another excursion into the land of futility and frustration.

Question: Can you update the ARFX7 ROMs that are version 2.00 thru 2.08 to version 4.01 so that it can be used on the MXM260?

I have tried to update the ROMs on 2 ARM237's and an MXM260. Since I do not have an .sfu file for the FX7 I am using the serial cable method (I used both a 9pin to 9pin and 25 pin to 9 pin cable) with the unit as the default printer. I have done this with the ARM162-207 series without any problems using a similar procedure. The units fail to update. I am using Maint.exe ver 4.22 when I try to update. The maintenance tree never expands and it always shows that the copier is off. 2 of the units lock up with nothing on the display or the Sharp display, 1 unit starts up normally without entering the download mode.

I can update the ARM237 and MXM260 using the USB connection without any problems. I am using a laptop running Windows XP Home edition. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and effort in this matter.

Sending you the step-by-step procedure for these machines now. It uses the .dat file.

Thanks wazza, got it. The only thing that I can think of that I am doing wrong is that I have the wrong type of cable.

It must be a crossover cable, Bil. I can give you pin to pin connection if you need them.
