    [Misc] Swapping developers

Any one out there ever try subistuting developers, ie... AR 400 ND for AR 336 ND, this will work.
How about AR 450 ND for AR 455 ND, the amount of DV in the bag is different, by 50 Grams.
Any ideads if this will work ????

yep we tried it, and it didn't work. It's been a while so I can't remember exactly. I believe they use different charge voltages between the two series.
    Hope that helps !

      Seriously Vincent..... dont do it.

Complete waste of time & dev. Same applies for MX color dev as well. Have tried those too with major overtoning being the result after the first 1000 or so pages.

Many components can be interchanged between series, but dev is one thing that must remain the same.

It's hardly worth the trouble. Between Cougars it can be interchanged as long as its weighed up per the amount on the package.

I did an extended experiment once when I believed I had a developer issue on the Dragon I's. I weighed up the proper amount of Cougar developer and it set properly in simulation. Then I filled 1/2 dozen toner cartridges with Cougar toner. Copy quality was good (other than the toner chips problem from the fuser). When the 6 cartridges were done, our office staff had completely forgotten that I had filled special cartridges, and continues with Dragon toner. That also continued to work fine (other that the ongoing toner chips problem from the fuser).

I have to agree with wazza on this. The chances of success are low, and you won't save a significant amount of cash to make it worthwhile. The odds are that you'll create a problem where there is none. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

In a sense it was a partial success. I could rule out developing for sure. But what a mess filling those cartridges! =^..^=
