    Sharp ARM280

machine threw H5-01 code. Reset w/ sim.14 but jams every time. Lead edge gets about 3" out of fuser and paper just stops. Does the photointerupter just above the fuser go bad on this model or is it a drive problem? First time working on this model. Local Sharp dealer disappeared and customer is anxious. Any help appreciated.

    Get the jam codes.

    First get the jam codes:

copy mode, P * C * (it may take a few tries to get the right tempo to get into the service mode)

22 start 3 start (you'll see the list of jam codes)

I'm just guessing at this point, but I suspect that youll find the majority of the codes are POD2N & AINPDN. The usual cause of this is bad one way bearings in the delivery/turnover unit. The 4 or 5 parts necessary to fix the problem cost more than the assembly, so get the assembly. It's not so easy to install anyway. With a lot of practice I could do it in 1hour.

Just let me know what the other codes are, and I can steer you in the right direction.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

my memory is a little fuzzy but it sounds like its the fuser unit is causing the jams...i think your jams are in the fuser and when you clear them they are accordianed (like paper fans) if so then just clear out the jams, throroughly inspect the fuser unit, i.e, check picker fingers, or anything else that might be causing abruptions in the fuser. then run a sim 14 or 15 (the one to clear codes) to get rid of the code and run about 10 copies through to check machine.
