    Bummer mx2300

I have a Docutate cd2501n that is the same as a Sharp mx2300 copier. It is telling me the Magenta toner is low, and I tried 3 new toners and the message will not go away. I checked
the toner motor with the SIMS, it runs OK. I checked the DV level and it is OK, the toner pipe
is not clogged. The copies are good, and it keeps running, but the message will not leave.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Dan..

does it try and add toner?
when new toner installed does the machine toner level show 100% (hold copy key on mx)?

i have had 2 faults like this one 1st where it pulled all toner out of the dev unit making the dev look gray that was drum earth i replaced drum and cleaned center rod of drum. This is related to 1st question

2nd the machine was asking for magenta toner and when new toner inserted the toner level (copy key) was still 25-0 % this turned out to be pcu pwb (controle pwb)
dont know what it is called on a cd2501 but its the pwb far right(looking from back) on swing out pwb section. this is related to the 2nd question

One of the guys had a toner motor turning backwards when he tested using sim 10.

To activate toner motors you need to remove all toners first. I think he was getting F2-65 codes or something though.

Who is rebranding this machine? Never heard of Docutate.

We have a machine that does this from time to time.... a "long time" tech in our office was the one dealing with it though and he said through discussion with tech support and the only "conclussion" was it is a somewhat known problem without a good fix. Seems to just "go away" after awhile. This is all info I just remember hearing "here and there".... I will try and dig a little deeper to see if I can get some actual details.

I do know that he tried several toners and updated the firmware.... no change

Sounds like a drum unit problem causing toner to pull to the drum, maybe you can switch the drum unit w/another color??? and see if the problem travels to a different color toner. You should clean the drum units real good though if you're gonna swap them.
