I have this up and running again, I tried to perform a firmware upgrade with the CN method but still had no response, but when I disconnected the internal finisher the copier powered up fine.
I then upgraded the firmware and switched it on and off a few times so far so good.

That takes the MX-FN17 inner finisher.

I have to laugh at this new machine. Sharp builds this whole new box, new trays, fax kits, etc but the only external finisher is the problem riddled MX-FNX10. I'm not sure which has more retrofits; the new machine or the old finisher. This thing looks like the love child of a MX2600 and a MX311.

Sharp does not make it's finishers which is why you see the same finisher on so many machines. Many of them are cannon finishers. The Herc series uses Ricoh finishers.

I have not even seen this machine yet but from what i hear it sounds like it's going to be a POS...

It certainly will if you don't follow the TB for centering the fuser belt at setup.

It does it after the centering as well. We received our retrofit pins today and they claim this will solve this on going fuser issue. I will keep my fingers crossed.

The machines are great! The fuser is a pain to disassemble and reassemble. You want to do that in your office! So keep a replacement on hand! There are already mods to help with the fuser issues. Also we're not rebuilding the drum units it is a pain as well. It's not worth the extra time and aggravation, just replace the units they're cheap enough. The display can cause sensory overloads so I just dumb it down for our customers! Overall though I really do like them so far, only time will tell though.

Even with the pins the belt still travels (I've only seen it travel to the rear so far) but have been assured by help desk that "the belt should not tear". The operative word there is 'should' not would; we'll see.
