    arm-350u+ finisher problem

    hi,
have a 'new' arm-350u+ with 20K; got it shipped over from east coast.
the unit won't work, error msg, finisher not working; has code 1f-78 or something like that; i can't remember.

it also has the arfx5 fax module. the finisher is arn f5 i think....

please advise what to do/start at...

    More information please.

It's either an AR-MS1 or AR-FN6 (if it's on the right). It's an AR-FN7 if it's on the left. And there is no 1F-78 code. My closest guess might be F1-87.

Get the code right and come on back.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

correct access # and error code

      yes, you are correct.

it's the stapler/finihser on R side, and the error msg says 'finisher out of service', F1-87.

      please advise. thanks

        Finisher Staple Rotation Motor trouble.
This means that the stapler cannot rotate to it's home position. The only time this code occurs is when a staple jams when stapling a set, and the stapler cannot rotate back to its home position.

You may have a partially stapled set in the stapler now. You may only see a little of it if someone ripped out most of the paper.

The stapler may be off its track as a result of removing such a jam.

The stapler could be hung up on the black plastic arms that hold the stapled set before stapling. Usually nothing is broken, just hung up.

You could have a wiring harness problem to the stapler.

In all cases the thing to do is take a look at the stapler, remove any jams, and if its off track remove the stapler assembly with the track system and get it back on track. Have fun.

Sorry, I was thinking you said AR-FN7. Those are fixes for the FN7.

          For the AR-FN6:

First choice) Replace the (4) stapling tray pressure arms (LSTPP0357FCZZ). After you replace them you'll see that the tips get worn down, and wedge into place so that the black support plates cannot move out of the way of the stapler. The black plates look warped, but they aren't (I should say they always look like that).

They are fairly easy to get to. You do have to remove the finisher from the copier. Remove the front and rear covers. Open the right door. Pull the pins that retain the door. From there you'll see the arms. They can be changed with a little maneuvering.

          Forget the other stuff.
