Have a customer with Ar205 stripped mount holes for fuser. I know Sharp had a modified fix for this but not among my TBs. Please provide TB and or your own suggestion for fix. I once changed the middle frame but was a pain. Prefer something with less effort. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

Re: Ar205 Middle frame fuser mount holes stripped
Thanks Dave. It looks like from the TB that the mounting plate does not attach to old middle frame which sounds like I have to change the frame anyway. What a BS modification. FrankComment

Re: Ar205 Middle frame fuser mount holes stripped
I've drilled through on a few machines and installed a threaded metal plate on the back. Usually by the time it strips the middle frame is crumbling anyway, and it's a good time to buy a real machine. Panthers were jammo-matics. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Ar205 Middle frame fuser mount holes stripped
I have to disagree with you David. I don't want a machine that is so reliable that there is never service which means unless you are selling contracts you are not making much money in service. Also if you know this machine fairly well it's good to know a machine that other techs don't like or don't care much for servicing... less competition. Also very easy to recharge cartridge and make pretty good money on it. Sharp themselves was actually encouraging it, selling the toner and developer separately for recharging.
The manufacturers have taken enough business already from us with the $400 do everything machines that customer are not going to spend much on for repair and opt more often to replace machine with another cheap one. Remember when the cheap machines were $1000 to $1500 and there was more service business? Anyway I like this series machine with the td cartridge as more $ in recharge than the replacement ar162/201 series.
That's why when ACM started selling the Copystar I opted not to buy them. Why do I want to buy a machine where the toner is good for 100k. You have to look at the prospects for revenue from the machine that you put out there. FrankComment

Re: Ar205 Middle frame fuser mount holes stripped
The threaded metal plate in the TB has double sided tape to stick the plate to the old frame. That plate sticks to the back of the plastic frame so you have to remove the center paper tray to install it. You will need to drill the old holes out enough to allow for proper alignment of the replacement screws. I did have one where the frame was so brittle that large pieces were broken off making it almost impossible to use the modification. The modification does not help the 3rd lower screw mount if that is bad as well.Comment
